What does PMC Stand for? Some pits might have PMC, Post Master Communications.
Important Information: Some of these older pits are asbestos, including the pit structure, lids and pipes.
These pit where also sometimes sprayed with dangerous catagenic chemicals, such as a deadly banned pesticide, dieldrin.
Other unknown dangers you might not be aware of are, Snakes, Spiders and other animals, and in some cases syringe needles from drug uses. They have also been reported to collapse in, if not maintained or replaced when damaged.
The Postmaster-General's Department (PMG) was a department of the Australian federal government, whose responsibilities included the provision of postal and telegraphic services throughout Australia during the period 1901 to 1975.
Eventually replaced by the Postal and Telecommunications Department. Two separate legal entities had been established in July 1975 to take over the department's operations: Telecom Australia (colloquially "Telecom"; later became Telstra) and Australia Post.
